Welcome to My World of Never-Ending Niches
Hey you! Thanks for stopping by.
I'd like to introduce myself. I'm Jade and I'm a hobbyist; ever-changing and never-ending.
Throughout my life, I've discovered I tend to hop between multiple interests, going back and forth between previous hobbies, add in a new one here and there, or completely abandon the ones that don't provide enough dopamine. Generally, I consider myself a home body, as most of my hobbies keep me indoors, but occasionally I find myself venturing outdoors (mostly to play with multiple tennis balls with my dog, but there's a few more exceptions). Most of what I'll blog about will focus mostly on my indoor hobbies, but don't be surprised if I randomly bring up gardening, hammock reading, cornfield waterway walks with my dog, or boating down the Mississippi River. Nothing is truly off limits, as long as I'm interested in it.
Having one niche, or even a few, is something I simply cannot do. Instead, I'm leaving the door open for anything that sparks my interest. Sharing my adventures through hobby hopping has been a dream of mine for years, and I'm ready to share my venture down this path.
Truthfully, the main reason for blogging is to delve back into writing. I've identified as a writer for over half my life, and I spent a decade cultivating a fantasy novel idea...only to abandon it permanently. It became something that wasn't my own anymore. As we all do, I changed with age, and I became disconnected from that previous novel idea. It just wasn't me anymore. After deciding to finally set that novel-in-progress aside forever, a few years passed before I finally had a new idea that has true potential to grow into something, hopefully, great.
During the years between abandoning my old story to finding my new one, I had ideas here and there, but they didn't have the spark I was looking for, the foundation to build from. Though I've journaled, I haven't truly written anything creative for the past few years. Now that an idea, an idea that has the spark, finally came to me, I realized I need to hone back into the skill I once had.
That means I need to practice, I need to find my new voice and style, and figure out who I am as the writer I am now.
Blogging seems to be just the thing I need to dust off all the rust.
The intention I'm seeking with this blog is to speak freely with no limitations on subjects I choose to write about, build a welcoming and safe environment, for not just myself, but for anyone who happens to stumble in, and share my passions with others.
If you enjoy reading, writing, knitting, gardening, house plants, betta fish, dogs, cats, The Sims 4, movies, shows, painting, crafting, creating, and anything else I happen to adopt (or have forgotten to list right now), welcome.
"The Road goes ever on and on down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, and I must follow, if I can." ―J.R.R. Tolkien
Until next time, friends.
